Talking about RHS Chelsea Flower Show on BBC Radio Leeds

This week marked another exciting moment in our journey to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026 as Rob headed over to BBC Radio Leeds to chat with Gayle Lofthouse about the development of our show garden.

It was a wonderful opportunity to share the story behind the design, the inspiration driving it, and the message we hope to bring to Chelsea next year. Gayle’s enthusiasm and thoughtful questions made the conversation flow effortlessly, and it was fantastic to bring listeners along for a glimpse behind the scenes of our journey so far.

We’ve included a short audio clip from the interview below so you can catch up on some of the highlights.

The Tressell Together Garden - A Garden with Purpose

In 2026, Rob Hardy Garden Design has the honour of creating a show garden in partnership with Tressell, supported by the generosity of Project Giving Back.

At its heart, the garden is rooted in a powerful idea: that when people come together, meaningful change is possible.

“Our garden makes a powerful statement — that when people come together, we can end hunger. Created in partnership with Trussell, it’s a space for both community gatherings and quiet, intimate conversations. It unites people in their shared belief that change is possible — a place where beauty meets purpose.”

The design seeks to balance openness with intimacy — spaces that encourage connection, alongside moments of stillness and reflection. It is a garden that carries both emotional weight and quiet optimism, grounded in the belief that design can communicate something far greater than aesthetics alone.

About the Garden Design Studio

Rob Hardy Garden Design is known for creating thoughtful, timeless landscapes that feel deeply connected to their setting. The studio’s work is rooted in strong spatial design, a refined planting approach and a sensitivity to materials and craft.

While each project is unique, there is a consistent thread — a desire to create gardens that feel calm, immersive and enduring. The opportunity to bring this ethos to Chelsea, on such a visible and meaningful platform, is both a privilege and a responsibility.
